Joel Herrera, a native of Jal, New Mexico, has had an impressive journey in the world of volleyball. He honed his skills at Central State University, where he played collegiate volleyball as an Opposite/Setter. During his high School years, Joel also competed at the club level with Next Level and the Houston Volleyball Academy, gaining extensive experience and developing a deep understanding of the game.
Joel’s passion for volleyball and dedication to the sport led him to a career in coaching. He is driven by a love for the game and a desire to see athletes grow both on and off the court. Joel is committed to being a positive role model for his players, helping them become better athletes and better individuals.
His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that there is always room to learn and grow. He emphasizes the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, encapsulated in his favorite quote: “Learning comes from outside comfort zones. Become comfortable with being UNCOMFORTABLE.” Joel encourages his players to embrace challenges and continually push their limits to achieve personal and team success.
