Mayzi Alvarez
13U Academy Coach
bio
Introducing Coach Mayzi! She was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Coach Mayzi is a graduate of Volcano Vista High School (Class of 2023). She played as a Libero for 12 years, playing club for ARVC and NM Juniors. She’s currently studying at the University of New Mexico and is committed to shaping the next generation of players.
Having experienced the highs and lows of volleyball firsthand, Coach Mayzi understands what it means to stay resilient and love this game. After stepping away from volleyball early due to poor coaching experiences, she is determined to be the kind of coach who inspires players to love the sport as much as she does. She draws inspiration from her 17s coach, David Green, who taught her the perfect balance of fun and discipline that she aspires to replicate in her own coaching style.
Coach Mayzi has big aspirations beyond volleyball, planning to open her own business and become a cosmetologist. Volleyball, to her, is more than just a sport—it’s a game that challenges and shapes individuals both on and off the court. Her approach to coaching and life, is to encourage and empower her players to take challenges head on with confidence, strength, and determination.
Outside of volleyball, Coach Mayzi enjoys art and all things beauty-related, constantly seeking inspiration to bring creativity and passion into everything she does. ARVC is lucky to have a grounded and driven young coach to help inspire our young athletes. We can’t wait to see all Mayzi has to offer.
Coach Mayzi’s Favorite Quote – “For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
