Robert Pierce began playing volleyball at UNM in 1993, where he played for the men’s club team. Shortly after, he began his sand career and spent all of his student loan money traveling to compete in tournaments for the Colorado Professional Volleyball Association, the Arizona Volleyball Association, and AVP Qualifiers, where he won tens of dollars in prize money. During this time, he also played for Team Tribe’s first men’s team.He began his coaching career as an assistant at Eldorado High School in 1996 while doing his student teaching. In 1997, he began his career as a high school English teacher and assistant volleyball coach at Moriarty High School. In 2007, Robert returned to Eldorado High School as the head coach for 10 of the 15 years he taught there. He and his wife Drichelle also coached their own club team based out of Moriarty from 2006-2008.Robert has coached his son Jesse in club volleyball since 2021 and is excited to continue coaching boys volleyball in New Mexico.He is known for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and shiny head.
