14U Academy Coach
bio
Welcome Coach Shane! He grew up in Hawaii, where his love for sports began at an early age. With nearly 30 years of experience playing and being involved in volleyball, he has built a deep connection to the game. In 2024, Coach Shane relocated to Albuquerque, where he continues to share his passion for volleyball.
Originally, coaching was a way for Coach Shane to spend quality time with his family when his eldest started playing sports, but over time, he discovered a passion for mentoring and helping others grow. Over the years, he’s coached a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball, and even officiated swimming. However, it was volleyball that truly captured his heart. Influenced by his wife Susan, a fellow volleyball player, he encouraged his children to take up the sport. Shane has coached at the high school level, both in South Korea and locally for Volcano Vista and Manzano High Schools. His dedication to the sport is evident in his ability to inspire young athletes to reach their full potential. Beyond technical skills, he emphasizes the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive mindset
Beyond the court, Shane is a devoted family man and a skilled IT specialist supporting the Space Force. His commitment to hard work, perseverance, and continuous improvement extends to both his professional and personal life. As a coach, he strives to instill these values in his players, empowering them to reach their full potential on and off the court. With four kids at home, Coach Shane has little free time but enjoys every moment he can spend with his family and watching his kids play.
We’re ecstatic to have a seasoned coach and player join our coaching staff. Beyond that we can’t wait to see what he how he’s able to bring his perspective as a parent of current Rebels to his coaching. We proudly introduce Coach Shane!
