Sophia Tapia
13N2 Assistant Coach
Meet Coach Sophia! She was born and raised in Albuquerque and is an ARVC Alumni!
She brings 10 years playing experience having played in both high school and college. She was a OH and DS for the majority of her career but, specialized as a utility player filling in for positions wherever she was needed. Towards the end of her High School career she made the switch to DS/Libero.
Coach Sophia played for Sandia High School and at ARVC for her entire high school career. She received a scholarship to play indoor and beach volleyball at Westcliff University in Irvine California. During her college career her team won the CalPac Conference Championship and went on to play in the National Championship where they place 3rd!
She began her coaching career in California coaching a local 16s team. Her experience with that team sparked a new found love for volleyball as a coach.
While at Westcliff, she received a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology. When she's not coaching or playing her works as an IT Technician for charter schools. She doubles as a volleyball and computer nerd.
We are ecstatic to have Sophia join our coaching staff at ARVC. Not only will she be a fantastic coach, but, she will have an opportunity to share game strategy, intensity and chemistry she gained while being a player here. She hopes to share her knowledge and effectiveness on the court with our athletes and is excited for this season.
